Groeninghe is a collective of private individuals who acquire and manage works of art together. It all started when Leo Van Tuyckom and Lieve Hermant brought together a group of twenty art collectors and approached Brussels art critic Pierre Sterckx to be their curator. They collected contemporary art in an old tannery in Groeninghe, a street in Bruges, hence the name. The collective is now on its eighth collection, each time with a new curator and a new membership. Around 70 works can be viewed by appointment at the Europacollege in Bruges. In addition, works are regularly loaned to museums and institutions.

‘The Painted Veil’

In collaboration with the Groeninghe Art Collection, visitors had the opportunity to admire a curated selection of exceptional artworks from this private collection at our Knokke office until 15 September 2025. The exhibition, titled The Painted Veil, was curated by Elena Soboleva and drew inspiration from the eponymous poem by Percy Bysshe Shelley.
