Het Kunstuur and Degroof Petercam

Precious. Partnerships: Kunstuur.
Hans Bourlon, Studio100-CEO, and brother Joost have launched 'Het Kunstuur': a creative project where music and stories inject new life into unique artworks for an intensified art experience.

Degroof Petercam supports clients with an art collection and wants to connect those not yet familiar with art. Based on this philosophy, it is logical that both parties support each other and join forces for the long term. ‘Het Kunstuur' and Degroof Petercam, partners in art. Together, we are ready to push the boundaries in the world of art.

Het Kunstuur is a fantastic concept. You get drawn into the story and experience the artworks very differently from what you are used to. I've been familiar with art since I was a kid, but this is really a wonderful experience.

Grandfather Jozef De Bie was a painter," explains Hans Bourlon. "He lived next door to us and inspired me and my brother Joost from an early age with his work. Hence our passion for art. So at 60, I started to organize an innovative art project from scratch and give expression to my passion. From around 300, we selected 30 works for our visitors to discover in one hour. What we do is unique and different in the art world: the stories we tell with the works draw you in. With storytelling, music, lighting, visual and theatrical techniques, we make you truly look and feel the experience. That leads to an impression that stays with you. We also show works from a broad time period, from 1850 to 1950. This concept works and the support of Degroof Petercam is more than welcome. Their clients appreciate art and often have their own collections, and this provides opportunities for contacts. The result is a win-win situation for 'Het Kunstuur' and Degroof Petercam.

I still have my grandfather's painting box. His work and his immense collection of art books from the 'Latem School', among others, continue to inspire us. Today, 'Het Kunstuur' is primarily a hobby. It started in the spring of 2018 when Hans convinced me to compete in a public bidding in Mechelen. Our entry was withheld. Meanwhile, 'Het Kunstuur' is already in its fourth edition and we are present in Mechelen, Hasselt and Roeselare. I also felt it was important to support charity. We encountered that in Mechelen with vzw Sjarabang, who wants to integrate and help people with disabilities through art. The works thus created are sold publicly and that generates a lot of income for the functioning of the non-profit organization. That's the way we like it. In the end, 'Het Kunstuur' is a non-profit project through which we want to contribute to a better society.
